MAD FOR THE SPARTANS

BOARDMAN OH- We all need somebody to lift us up when we are down, don’t we? Although Boardman coach Fred Mootz says “when you get down don’t get down” that sentiment can’t become a reality without people in your corner. For Boardman no one is in everyone’s corner as much as Maddie Dravecky.  She pours positive energy into the entire team. That is a big reason why the Spartans success.

Dravecky also contributed fairly well on the field. Her biggest strength is her ability to always be mentally locked in. Whether she gets the start or comes in off the bench, Dravecky will always be focused, centered, and ready to dominate. And dominate she does! Dravecky is a real pain for the opposing coaches to game plan for. You know that when she steps on the field, she means business.

Dravecky has an impressive batting average of .324. That’s good for 5th on the team, and she’s the only player who has less than 50 at bats, and still has an average over .300.  Dravecky has only been thrown out stealing once all season.

Dravecky was able to join her fellow juniors on YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about her year and the experience she’s gained. She talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about her favorite off the field memory, some insight into coach Mootz, and so much more. This is Sparta!
