CANFIELD OH- The kind of talent that you can currently see if you go to a Canfield volleyball game is once in a generation type. It comes in the form of senior Abbie Householder. That talent also doesn’t come without an insanely impressive work ethic, and support system. Householder has both of those checked off her list.
Among Abbie’s accomplishments so far this season are YSN Player of the Year, District player of the Year, and 1,000 career kills. Currently Abbie ranks 2nd in the state of Ohio in kills with 468 on the year. She is no slouch on defense either though, she currently sits at 348 digs on the season, which is more than most players in the area.
The Cardinal senior now has her eyes on leading her team to a deep tournament run. For them it starts on Saturday as they’ll battle 6th seeded Aurora at 2:00 at Austintown Fitch High School.
Householder will continue her academic and volleyball career at Youngstown State University. Current YSU senior Morgan Clevely is also a Canfield graduate.
Abbie took the time to join YSN’s Running Point this week to talk about her season that earned her our Player of the Year. She talks with Anthony Hartwig and Ty Bartell about what her goals were this season, her volleyball journey, and much more. You won’t want to miss this chance to hear from one of the best volleyball players the state has to offer. Check out “Making A House Call.”
