YOUNGSTOWN OH- Every player strives for greatness. For Ursuline, there has been a history of incredibly star athletes like Akise Teague, Paul Kempe, Allen Jones you name it. In this generation of players, one stands out in wide receiver Dean Boyd who a year ago, thought that his football career was over after a gruesome lower body injury.

Now in 2021, he is back to that speed and agility we once saw of him. Especially since Boyd is continuing his academic and athletic career at the University of Harvard, looking to give the Crimson their first undefeated season since 2014 and that 17 time champions with an IVY League championship and the hopes of beating the rival Yale Bulldogs in the Harvard-Yale Rivalry game.

That is for Boyds future, the present however, he wants to get the irish back to their winning ways after two back to back losses and get to the playoffs, with a mindset of giving head coach Dan reardon, his fourth championship at Ursuline and for Boyd himself, to prove the haters from 2018 to 2019 and to show them why Ursuline Football is back and ready to win a State Title.

On this player profile, Boyd talks with our very own Ian O’Brien about the last two games, what got him starting in football and many more. The Ursuline Irish (4-3, 1-0 in SVC) are set to take on the East Golden Bears (1-5, 0-1 in SVC) this Saturday in a Steel Valley Conference Rivalry matchup at 7pm at the iconic Rayen Stadium, Jack Antonuucci Field at 7pm on YSN!!
