MAPLEWOOD FEELS GOOD IN THE SUN

ORWELL OH — Maplewood came out swinging and never let up Monday, rolling past Grand Valley 15-0 in a five-inning beatdown.

Addison Marker was a wrecking ball at the plate, driving in five runs on four hits to lead the Rocket attack. She got the party started with an RBI single in the first, then cleared the bases with a two-run double in the second, and tacked on two more with another single in the third.

Maplewood wasted no time jumping out front, scoring three runs in the first after a base hit from Marker and some help from a Grand Valley miscue. They blew it wide open in the second behind hits from Marker, Raegan Krieg, and a triple from Hayley Flinner.

The Rockets kept the pedal down in the third, with a double from Claire Urchek, another RBI knock from Marker, and a bases-loaded walk to Flinner adding to the carnage.

Marker wasn’t just raking at the plate—she picked up the win in the circle too, tossing three shutout innings with six strikeouts and no walks. Emily Perline came in to lock down the final outs.

Offensively, Maplewood racked up 15 hits. Marker and Urchek each banged out four hits, while Krieg chipped in a pair. Ava Calvert showed patience at the plate, drawing three walks as the Rockets piled up seven free passes overall. Maplewood also kept things clean defensively, not committing a single error on the day.

Grand Valley mustered just three hits and couldn’t get anything going against Maplewood’s arms. Next up, the Rockets look to keep it rolling when they host Mathews on Wednesday.
