MAPLEWOOD QUICKLY JUMPS AHEAD

FAIRPORT OH-  Maplewood made quick work of Fairport Harding on Tuesday, cruising to a 10-0 shutout win in five innings.

The Rockets broke things open in the second when Ryan Sexton tagged up and came home to get the scoring started. In the third, they kept the pressure on with a pair of bases-loaded walks that brought in two more runs.

Then came the fourth—five runs on just one hit. A miscue by Fairport opened the floodgates, and Gabe Erwin took full advantage, driving in three with a single. He later scored on a sac fly to put the exclamation point on the inning.

Erwin was just as sharp on the mound as he was at the plate. He spun a one-hitter over five shutout innings, striking out seven and walking only two. He had full command from start to finish. Ethan Nelson came in and slammed the door for the save.

Erwin and Sexton drove in runs, while Tyson Webster led the hit column with a pair of knocks. The Rockets were patient at the plate, working seven walks and staying aggressive on the bases, swiping six bags—Sexton and Nelson both grabbed two apiece.

Fairport’s lone hit came off the bat of Abe Castellano, but the Skippers never got anything going against Erwin. Maplewood’s back at it Wednesday with a home matchup against Chaney.
