MAPLEWOOD STALLS THE MUSTANGS
CORTLAND OH- Maplewood took care of business on Wednesday, blanking Mathews 5-0 behind strong pitching and steady offense.
The Rockets got on the board early thanks to an error in the first, and they kept the pressure on from there. It wasn’t flashy, but they kept finding ways to get runners on and bring them home.
Gabe Erwin was sharp on the mound, going five innings and giving up just two hits while striking out six. He didn’t allow a run and only walked one before handing things off to Kenyan Clover, who locked down the final outs for the save.
At the plate, Maplewood scattered nine hits across the lineup. Coleton Logan stayed hot, going 3-for-3, while Clover added a pair of knocks himself. Gavin Clower chipped in with an RBI to help push the lead out. Next up, the Rockets hit the road Thursday to take on JFK Catholic.
