MCCALLA THROWS HER SECOND NO HITTER OF THE SEASON

MCDONALD OH- Haleigh McCalla was brilliant on the rubber on Wednesday, as she threw a no-hitter to lead Springfield past McDonald 6-1.

McDonald got on the board in the first inning when Gianna Mancini drew a walk, scoring one run.

Springfield pulled away for good with three runs in the third inning. In the third Madi Lesnak doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run and Rachel Malatok singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs.

McCalla pitched Springfield to victory. The pitcher went seven innings, allowing one run on zero hits and striking out 20.

Bri McCombs took the loss for McDonald. The lefty lasted four innings, allowing three hits and three runs while striking out six and walking one.

Springfield hit one home run on the day. Emily Gerthung had a homer in the sixth inning.

Gerthung went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Springfield in hits.
