MCCULLOCH COMES BACK HOME

By Noah Ricks

PEPPER PIKE OH- Orange boys’ basketball player Alex McCulloch comes from a basketball background like no other. It extends from his experience, as well as from the basketball family that he has. As he heads back to his hometown this season, he will look to put both his talent and leadership on full display

The junior McCulloch is coming into the 2024-25 season as a transfer from state powerhouse Lutheran East, where he was part of back-to-back state championships. Those teams were led in part by his brother Jesse, who was ranked in the top-100 players in the country by ESPN (#99) and is currently a freshman for Tom Izzo’s Michigan State Spartans. Alex understands the importance of his brother making strides in the college basketball world and looks to live up to his brother’s name in Pepper Pike.

Alex is originally an Orange kid, as well, leaving the district his eighth-grade year to go to Lutheran East. Upon reconnecting with his old friends, he feels like that he has not even made a transition, with everyone being happy upon him returning. He has enjoyed the energetic practices that are being run by Coach Marvin Rashad and believes the style of play and coaching will lead the Lions to great success in the spring of 2025. Deep down, at heart, Alex McCulloch is an Orange Lion.
