MCDONALD FLEXES OFFENSE OVER ROCKETS

LOWELLVILLE, OH- McDonald weathered a push by Lowellville in the first inning where they coughed up three runs, but the Blue Devils responded in a big way to win 14-4 on Saturday.

Lowellville’s big inning was driven by singles by Cole Bunofsky and Tino Rivera Ocasio.  McDonald answered back in the first inning when Miles Culp singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.

McDonald scored five runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by the Devils was led by Nolan AglerNick Ferradino, and Wyatt Wolford, all driving in runs in the frame.

Culp was the winning pitcher for McDonald. The pitcher lasted three innings, allowing four hits and four runs while striking out six. Logan Presco threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Bunofsky took the loss for Lowellville. The bulldog surrendered four runs on one hit over two-thirds of an inning, striking out two.

McDonald had ten hits in the game. Andrew Cupan and Agler each managed multiple hits for the Blue Devils. Cupan led both teams with three hits in five at bats. Zach Shobel led the Devils with two stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with eight stolen bases.

Bunofsky went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lowellville in hits.
