MIGHTY CASEY TAKES HIS SWINGS

YOUNGSTOWN OH- While the Ursuline Irish have had a talented senior class this past season, the younger guys have also stepped up and made a big impact on the team.  One of those young players who is already a bit of a leader but looks to take the next step next season is Junior defensive lineman number 50 Casey Leugers.

Despite battling a little bit of an injury bug later on in the season, Leaguers came back for the Holy War in the regular season finale against Cardinal Mooney where he had a big part in the game, racking up 2.5 tackles which was in the top five of defensive tackles that night and one and a half TFLS.  Last week, he assisted in a TFL against Canton South in the big 48-20 victory.

Our very own Ian O’Brien caught up with Casey Leugers discussing the season, his big comeback from injury, who he models his game after and how it is, playing on an Irish team that was in a four year rebuild and not becoming one of the top teams in the valley.  There is no striking out for this young man! The third seeded Irish take on the sixth seeded Salem Quakers this week at Stambaugh Stadium 7pm kickoff.  You can buy the game and all the other playoff games along with it for $9.99 on YSN Live!!!
