MOHAWK DROPS LEAD LATE TO UNION

BESSEMER, PA- Mohawk stayed in it until the end, but Union pulled away late in an 8-6 victory on Monday. The game was tied at six with Union batting in the top of the eighth when Bella Cameron doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Mohawk collected seven hits and Union had nine in the high-scoring affair.

Mohawk fired up the offense in the first inning. Maya McGreal singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Union scored four runs in the fifth inning. The Lady Scottie’s big inning was driven by doubles by M Preuhs and A Nogay and a single by M Gorgacs.

Jendrysik got the start for Union. The ace lasted two innings, allowing three hits and two runs while striking out three and walking zero.

GiGi Cowher was in the pitcher’s circle for Mohawk. The pitcher surrendered eight runs on nine hits over eight innings, striking out ten.

Mohawk Area racked up seven hits in the game. Aricka Young, Alivia Hare, and McGreal each racked up multiple hits for Mohawk. Young led Mohawk with three hits in four at bats. Mohawk tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Hare led the way with three.

Union Area racked up nine hits on the day. E Siddall, Preuhs, and Cameron all had multiple hits for Union.
