MONDAY NIGHT BELONGS TO THE TIGERS

 

LEETONIA, OHIO- Howland defeated Leetonia 25-0 on Monday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Anthony Marimpietri struck out Evan Rosko to finish off the game.

Howland opened up scoring in the first inning, when Brenden Ray singled on a 2-0 count, scoring two runs. Howland tallied ten runs in the fourth inning. The Tigers’s big inning was driven by singles by Nick Leasure and Robert Gumino, an error on a ball put in play by Jak Kenney and Dominic Santee, a walk by Nicholas Lewis, a groundout by Massucci, and a double by Kenney.

A single by Tatym Finley in the first inning was a positive for the Leetonia Bears.

Braden Adams was the winning pitcher for Howland. The righthander surrendered zero runs on one hit over three innings, striking out eight and walking one. Marimpietri threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Finley led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Leetonia. The hurler allowed three hits and 12 runs over two and a third innings, striking out one. Rosko threw one and one-third innings in relief out of the bullpen.

 Leetonia will back in action when they take on United on Wednesday. Howland will go on the road to take on the Chardon Hilltoppers.
