MOONEY BUILDS UP BIG WIN OVER BULLDOGS
STRUTHERS OH- Cardinal Mooney came out swinging and never let up, cruising past Lakeview 7-1 on Tuesday in a clean, all-around performance.
Mooney jumped on the board in the first thanks to a two-run double and a bases-loaded walk that made it 3-0 before Lakeview had a chance to settle in. They tacked on another in the second off a fielder’s choice and kept the pressure on in the third with a double and RBI single to push the lead to 6-1.
On the bump, Ben Oddis was dialed in. He went six strong, giving up just four hits and an unearned run while striking out five with no free passes. Taco Verroco came in to slam the door, tossing a clean inning with a punchout.
Mooney racked up hits throughout the lineup, with multiple knocks from Petty, Reese, and Litman. Reese also swiped a pair of bags as Mooney flexed their speed, stealing four total. Stacy drove in two and kept things moving in the middle of the order.
Lakeview scattered four hits and made no errors in the field, but couldn’t string together enough offense to threaten. They’ll look to bounce back next time out. Mooney moves on to a big showdown Thursday against South Range. Lakeview also has a matchup with South Range next on their schedule. They’ll travel to the Raiders on Monday.
