MOONEY MAKING WINNING A REGULAR THING

STRUTHERS OH-  Cardinal Mooney made quick work of Salem on Thursday, cruising to a 10-0 shutout with Andrew Bushey setting the tone at the plate and the pitching staff locking things down.

Bushey was a tough out all day, going a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two singles, spraying the ball around and causing problems every trip to the box. Mooney came out swinging, jumping on Salem early with a pair of runs in the first, then kept tacking on from there.

The Cards piled on in the second with RBI knocks from Bushey and Ryan Reese, and never looked back. Taco Verroco added a run with a groundout in the third, and Mooney just kept the pressure on with smart at-bats and aggressive baserunning.

Ford Stacy got the start and shoved—five innings of two-hit, no-run ball with five punchouts. Verroco closed the door with a clean frame, adding a couple more Ks for good measure.

Mooney racked up 12 hits in all, with Bushey and Ben Oddis each collecting three. Will Petty added two of his own. The team wasn’t just hitting—they were flying on the basepaths, swiping 15 bags on the day. Bushey, Verroco, and Reese each snagged multiple.

No errors in the field and six walks at the plate—just a clean, all-around performance from the Cardinals.

Salem managed just two hits and turned a double play, but couldn’t string anything together. They’ll regroup, while Mooney gets set to host Canton Central Catholic on Saturday.
