MOONEY SHUTOUT EARNS THEM DISTRICT BID

BOARDMAN OH-  Cardinal Mooney’s two pitchers didn’t allow a single hit, as the Cardinals defeated Waterloo  4-0 on Thursday. Alaina Scavina induced a strike out to get the last out of the game.

Alaina Francis led the Cardinals to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The righthander went five innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out six and walking one. Scavina threw two innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Mackenzie Kehrer was in the pitcher’s circle for Waterloo. The bulldog surrendered four runs on 12 hits over six innings, striking out seven and walking one.

Cardinal Mooney hit two home runs on the day. Scavina put one out in the third inning. Francis went for the long ball in the third inning.

The Cardinals totaled 12 hits in the game. Sam Rotunno, Francis, Delaney Savaet, and Scavina all had multiple hits. Rotunno led with three hits in four at bats.
