MULLEN MAKES HER CASE FOR 2023 MVP

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- The girls basketball season at YSN is officially under wraps. We have been blessed to see so much talent come through the area this season, and so many teams have shined on the big stage.  When having the discussion about most valuable player, there was one name however that echoed louder than the rest, Springfield’s Jacey Mullen.

Jacey stepped into the big lights last season when she scored her 1000th career point as a junior. This season Mullen would one up that accomplishment by becoming the program’s all time leading scorer. She has scored more points in her career than any basketball player (boys or girls) that has graced the halls of Springfield.  That should tell you right away how important she has been to Springfield athletics.  However, scoring a lot of points doesn’t automatically make you MVP.  Mullen’s ability to fill the stat sheet every night is what did the trick.  Jacey averages a double double with over 16 points per game, and over 11 rebounds per game.  Mullen shoots 52% from the floor, and 70% from the line. She got to the free throw line more than anybody on the team finishing the season with 125 free throw attempts. To cap off her career, Mullen proved that she belonged on the biggest stage in high school basketball. Despite dropping their game to Toledo Christian, Mullen was the only player in the game to finish with a double double scoring 10 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.

We at YSN want to congratulate Jacey and the Tigers on a wonderful season.  We are honored to announce that Jacey Mullen is our 2023 Most Valuable Player.
