NCAA BASKETBALL TEAM PROFILE: KANSAS JAYHAWKS

NCAAB Team Profiles: Kansas Jayhawks

In an unprecedented turn of events, the Kansas Jayhawks won their first NCAA championship since 2008. In their 14 year dry spell, this historic win will be one for the record books.

Joseph Yesufu – Guard

The first teammate we need to praise for challenging the NCAAB odds is Joseph Yesufu. In his sophomore year, Yesufu has become an explosive guard who truly utilizes his speed and range. He currently averages 12.8 points per game. During this season Yesufu has scored 9 points, has played for 22 minutes, and made 5 rebounds.

Bobby Pettiford – Guard

Originally from South Granville High School, Bobby has always been someone to bring a team to greatness. He helped create a 12-4 record for the school which is why the Kansas Jayhawks wanted him.

Christian Braun – Guard

Braun is a Junior who is already bringing in a lot of career honors to the table. He was on the Big 12 All-Freshman team of 2020, earned the Big 12 Player of the Week 2020 Award, the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention 2021 award, and entered the Academic All-Big 12 First Team 2021.

Dajuan Harris – Guard

Harris was also given the honor of entering the Academic All-Big 12 First Team in 2021. This season he scored 14 points, played for 39 minutes, and made 5 rebounds. Harris is a solid player and an instinctive defenseman.

Kyle Cuffe Jr – Guard

Kyle Cuffe Jr verbally committed to Kansas back at the end of 2020. He has amazing athletic strength and has a knack for finding great scoring opportunities.

Unfortunately due to COVID-19, Cuffe Jr only played two games in the 2020 – 2021 games but he still averaged 25 points per game!

Jalen Wilson – Forward

Wilson is another decorated player. He can safely say that 2021 was his season as during that time he was named Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, and entered the Big 12 All-Freshman Team and the Big 12 All-Newcomer Team too.

Remy Martin – Guard

So far in his career, Martin has been part of the All-Pac-12 selection 3 times. He has also earned the second team or first times honors in both his junior, senior and sophomore years.

His biggest award so far is becoming the second player to ever be named three times in the All-League.

Chris Teahan – Guard

Teahan is a fan favorite in the Kansas crowd. So far he has played 44 games in four seasons and even graduated from Kansas in May 2021. You might be wondering how he can still play for the college team, and it’s through his master’s degree.

Charlie McCarthy – Guard

McCarthy is an amazing shooter who is constantly trying to prove his worth as a freshman. Although he hasn’t played for the team yet, his high school days shine bright enough for college too. He averaged 12 points per game with 8 rebounds and 5 assists.

Dillon Wilhite – Forward

Wilhite is another freshman on the team, but he diversifies his sporting range with basketball and volleyball. With a family filled with college athletes, Wilhite will surely follow in their footsteps.

Michael Jankovich – Guard

Jankovich only played one game in the 2020 – 2021 season due to surgery on his foot. However, in his freshman year, Jankovich played 10 games, four of which were in the Big 12. This season he has scored 3 points, 1 rebound, and no assists.

Zach Clemence – Forward

Already listed as a top 40 prospect, Clemence is just a freshman. However, his amazing shooting skills and ability to play multiple positions means that Clemence is hard to match up, and therefore an amazing player to have on your team.

KJ Adams Jr. – Forward

Adams Jr. is another freshman that the Kansas Jayhawks cannot wait to show off. When he was playing for Westlake High School, he averaged 25 points per game and led his team to a 30-2 win as state runner-up!

Ochai Agbaji – Guard

Agbaji is a highly decorated player. So far he has these titles to his name: Big 12 Newcomer of the Week (2019), Academic All-Big 12 Second Team (2020) and First Team (2021), All-Big 12 Honorable Mention (2020 and 2021), NABC All-District 8 Second Team (2021) and USBWA All-District VI (2021).

Jalen Coleman-Lands – Guard

Coleman-Lands is Kansas’s high scorer this season, scoring 20 points in just 24 minutes. He also helped with 3 rebounds and 3 assists.

Summary

Although only some of these teammates played in the biggest win since 2008, all of them helped create the atmosphere and enthusiasm needed to pull off such a big feat.
