NEVER A QUESTION WHY MADDY GETS IT DONE

MINERAL RIDGE OH- Mineral Ridge might have a younger roster on the softball field this year, but one constant over the years for their program has been now senior Maddy Ylonen.  Maddy has been doing this softball thing at a high level for a while now. She has been Mineral Ridge’s representative at the YSN All Star Game two years in a row.  Now in her final campaign, she aims to leave a lasting legacy on the Rams that will be felt for years to come.  Maddy has been able to do whatever the team needs her to do over the years. She contributes a ton at the plate, she has played a couple different positions on the field, and spends her fair share of time in the circle eating innings for the Rams staff.  That is something that every young player on the team can be inspired by. There’s nothing better for a coach than a versatile player.  Maddy has taught everyone what it means to go above and beyond.

Ylonen is absolutely mashing at the plate this season. She is currently hitting .611 at the plate for the Rams. With 1 home run, 5 doubles, and 23 RBI Ylonen has proven just how productive she can be. Her slugging percentage is .833.  Maybe the most impressive stat for Ylonen though is that she has yet to strike out this season in 36 at bats.  When you constantly put the ball in play, good things are going to happen.

Ylonen joined YSN’s Jake Sylak at the Post Office Pub to talk about her incredible career at Mineral Ridge. She talks about leading this program, she reflects on her time with the Rams, and so much more. Check out the latest Mineral Ridge Softball Player Profile only on YSN!
