NORTH CATHOLIC NO MATCH FOR KNIGHTS

AKRON, OH — The Archbishop Hoban Knights boys basketball team extended their undefeated start to the season with a decisive 76-53 victory over the North Catholic Trojans of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday night. Hoban (2-0) controlled the game from the outset, using a balanced offensive attack and a strong defensive effort to secure the win. The Knights jumped to a 21-12 lead after the first quarter and widened the margin to 39-23 by halftime.
North Catholic (0-3) showed signs of life in the third quarter, scoring 20 points, but Hoban responded with a 21-point frame of its own. The Knights closed out the game in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Trojans 16-10 to cement the victory.
John Johnson led all scorers with 24 points for Hoban, fueled by five three-pointers and a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the free-throw line. Brady Lucey added 10 points, including two three-pointers, while Sam Greer contributed nine points.
North Catholic was paced by Jude Rothman’s 17 points, which included six two-point field goals and a three-pointer. Owen Maddalon chipped in with 11 points, and Jason Fredericks tallied 12 points for the Trojans.
The Knights will face Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy (CVCA) on Saturday, December 14, at Barberton High School, with a 5 p.m. tip-off.
