NOTHING AMATO WITH THE TIGERS

WELLSVILLE OH- The Tigers of Wellsville are one of the most successful volleyball teams you’ll find in our area.  The Tigers are now owners of three straight district championships. They have a huge mix of great defense, rhythm in their setting, and powerful hitters who can put calls away at a moment’s notice.  One of Wellsville’s biggest threats at the net is senior Alana Amato.

Amato has been a facet in this offense for quite some time. She has racked up over 1,000 kills in her career. That is not easy to do. Especially when you’re on a team that spreads the ball around so much, but Amati is just hard to stop. When she’s on her game she can hit any shot she has to in order to beat the opponents defense. Whether it be a cut shot, a.cross court screamer, or attacking the line, Amato has the Tigers covered.

A look at Alana’s numbers this season quickly tell the tale.  After their district championship, Amato checks in at 294 kills on the year. She averages 3.5 kills per set.  However, Amatos most impressive stat this season is her blocking ability. Alana has racked up 136 blocks at the net. She averages 1.6 blocks per set played.  Amato is no slouch in the back row either. She has dug up 212 digs while she’s in the back line.  Alana is truly a well rounded player that finds plenty of ways to contribute to the team.

Alana took the time this week to chat with YSN’s Anthony Hartwig. They talk about her senior season, how the team’s been banding together through adversity, and so much more. Be prepared for the Tigers regional matchup with the latest Wellsville player profile only on YSN!
