NOTHING SPOILING SPARTANS SENIOR NIGHT

BOARDMAN OH-  Boardman’s offense caught fire and never cooled off. After falling behind 1-0 in the top of the first, the Spartans responded with a six-spot in the bottom half and followed it up with an eight-run outburst in the fourth to throttle Poland 14-1 on Wednesday.

Alex Ward flipped the game early with a three-run bomb to left in the first, part of a six-hit rally that gave Boardman a lead they’d never give back. Then came the fourth—where the floodgates opened. Ava Freeborough drove in two with a base knock, Mikayla Rivera added an RBI single, and both Jocelynn Torres and Tori Strines capped the chaos with two-run singles of their own.

Strines got it done in the circle too, spinning 4.2 strong innings with seven punchouts, allowing just two hits and one run. Gabi Sferra came on in relief to help shut the door.

Boardman racked up 13 hits in the win, with Rivera, Torres, Strines, and Freeborough each collecting two. Ward and Torres both drove in three.

Poland got on the board early thanks to a single in the first but couldn’t keep pace once Boardman’s bats came alive. The Bulldogs return home Thursday to take on South Range, while the Spartans look ahead to a Monday matchup with West Branch.
