CANFIELD OH- Columbiana came out swinging in their district semifinal, cruising to a 7-1 win over Rootstown and earning their spot in the championship game.
Ava Davanzo was on fire, bagging a couple of hits and driving in two runs, while Maryn Hepler made sure even her outs were memorable, smashing the ball around the park and scoring twice. Caitlynn Pleska added her own flair with a homer and an RBI.
Mackenzi Gamble dominated from the circle, tossing a complete game with 12 strikeouts and giving up just one run on three hits. She kept the Rootstown hitters guessing all day.
Now, Columbiana is gearing up for a showdown with South Range—the reigning regional champs. It’s all happening at South Range this Thursday at 5:30 PM, and it’s sure to be a clash worth watching.
