OBERSTER TAKES ORANGE OVER THE TOP

By Noah Ricks

PEPPER PIKE OH- Orange girls’ basketball senior Rachel Oberster has displayed a large amount of leadership over the last three years playing for the Pepper Pike community. As she heads into her final year as a Lion, she hopes to make huge achievements in her career and life, in general.

Oberster is nearing the mark of 1,000-points overall and is fighting for the moment where she can break it in front of her family and friends. She understands the humiliation of defeat and has made a commitment to give it her best by working on her individual shooting, as well as being a vocal leader that her younger teammates can look up to. With that, she has really enjoyed the chemistry and camaraderie of her team and has been looking forward to putting on a fun show for everyone to watch.

Rachel has been looking towards plans post-graduation by looking into leads in both basketball and cross country. She has talked with countless coaches from in-state D3 schools such as Oberlin, Kenyon, Denison, and Capital University. While an overlooked level of college sports, Oberster understands that, overall, she wants to continue to play for her sake of loving the game. In the end, she loves the process of playing just as much as she loves the end result.
