ORANGE DOMINATES ST. JOE’S

PEPPER PIKE, OH-With defending state singles runner-up Alexis Nyborg resting, the Lions cruised to a 4-1 win over D1 St. Joseph’s Academy Tuesday. The Lions are now 4-1 in the highly competitive NEOTA group ‘A’, tied for first place. Taking over for Nyborg at #1 singles, senior Blake Rothchild fought through a tight first set 7-5 before putting a perfect 6-0 score on the board in the second set to conclude the match.

On the doubles courts both Orange teams had perfect first sets before working their way through more competitive second sets. Player of the match honors went to Junior Daniela DeMata Hiciano, who stepped up to #2 singles and won by a perfect 6-0, 6-0 score.

The Lions continue their busy week Wednesday when they host the Laurel Gators at the Varsity Tennis Center.
