PASTELLA, PRESENT, AND FUTURE

YOUNGSTOWN, OH- Tradition is one of the main reasons young Michael Pastella made the move from his roots in Boardman to the halls of Cardinal Mooney.  His dad was a “Mooney Guy” and Michael saw the banners that hung proudly in the gymnasium, and saw himself being a part of another one being hung in cardinal and gold.

Fast forward to his senior year, and Pastella and his teammates have battled their way back onto the field in the midst of a pandemic, and if that wasn’t enough, a change in leadership just days prior to doubles have given the Cardinals another hurdle to overcome together.

Through the difficulty, Pastella and his teammates have created a silver lining in the clouds that hang over Stambaugh Stadium.  With the OHSAA provided open range in the playoffs in 2020, the Cardinals have bought into the “any given Friday” mentality.  Now Michael Pastella looks to lock down opposing offenses in the final chapter of his high school football career.

We caught up with the Mooney Linebacker extraordinaire to discuss Pastella, Present, and Future in our Cardinal Mooney Player Profile.
