PATELLIS SHINES AGAINST SPARTANS

BOARDMAN, OH- Despite allowing four runs in the second inning, Canfield defeated Boardman 7-4 on Wednesday. The offensive onslaught by Boardman was led by Charlie Young and Kaden Mayhew, all driving in runs in the frame.

Boardman captured the lead in the second inning. An error scored one run for Boardman.

The Cardinals took the lead for good with three runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth an error scored one run for Canfield, AJ Havrilla singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, and Luke Leonard induced Zain Jadallah to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Michael Patellis pitched the Cardinals to victory. The pitcher lasted four innings, allowing one hit and four runs while striking out five. Jameson Beck threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Leonard took the loss for Boardman. Leonard went five and a third innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits and walking one.

Patellis went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Canfield in hits.
