PERRY KNOCKS THE COMETS OUT OF ORBIT
SOLON OH- After giving up two early runs to Solon in the first, the Pirates settled in and took over by the third inning. Elise Strahan got the rally going with a base knock up the middle, Arianna Rogers smoked a double to left to bring one in, and Rosalyn Tharp followed with another RBI single to center. Just like that, Perry had flipped the scoreboard.
The Pirates added more cushion in the sixth. Morgan Winters launched a solo shot to left to set the tone, and a heads-up play on a liner from Madeline Infalvi brought home another run. Perry finished with 11 hits, keeping pressure on Solon’s defense all night.
Winters went the distance in the circle, scattering eight hits and giving up just two runs while walking one. She let her defense do the work and they backed her up, turning a double play and staying aggressive on the basepaths with five stolen bags. Infalvi swiped two of those.
Rogers and Tharp each drove in a pair. Strahan and Sophie Sivon added multi-hit games to the mix. On the flip side, Solon’s Grace Gerhard drove in both of their runs in the first, and struck out 12 on the mound, but the Pirates stayed persistent and found their spots. Perry hits the road next to take on Edgewood, looking to keep the bats hot.
