PETRO CARRIES CARDINALS IN PITCHER’S DUEL

Ryan Petro threw a gem on Tuesday for Canfield, allowing zero runs and besting Boardman by a score of 1-0

The pitching was strong on both sides. Petro struck out nine, while Boardman pitchers sat down four.

One bright spot for Boardman was a single in the fifth inning.

Petro was the winning pitcher for Canfield. The pitcher surrendered zero runs on one hit over seven innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Nate Fleming toed the rubber for Boardman. Fleming lasted four and a third innings, allowing five hits and one run while striking out two and walking zero. Griffin Widrig threw one and two-thirds innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Vince Machuga, Josh Juliano, Ben Slanker, Dom Magliocca, and Petro each collected one hit to lead Canfield.

Fleming led Boardman with one hit in three at bats.
