PIRATES BEAT OUT THE RAIN
PERRY OH- Arianna Rogers was dialed in Thursday, driving in four runs on two clutch singles to power Perry past West Geauga in a 6-inning rout, 11-1.
Perry wasted no time getting on the board. Morgan Winters lifted a sac fly to get things rolling in the first, and Madelyn Rupert followed with a two-run double to put the Pirates up 3-0 right out of the gate.
Rogers added to the damage in the second, lacing a two-run single to make it 5-0. She wasn’t done—came back in the sixth and knocked in two more to put the game on ice.
Sydney Collins added a little extra flair in the third with a solo shot to dead center.
Rupert went the distance in the circle, giving up just four hits and one run over six innings. She didn’t rack up strikeouts but pitched to contact and let the defense handle the rest.
Perry’s sticks were alive—14 hits in total. Rogers, Rupert, Elise Strahan, Rosalyn Tharp, Madeline Infalvi, and Sophie Sivon all collected two knocks apiece. The Pirates also turned a slick double play on defense.
West Geauga had some patience at the plate, drawing five walks, but couldn’t string together enough hits to do any damage. Ava Borz, Dayana Malone, Cara Day, and Peyton Gambatese each had a hit, with Borz picking up the lone RBI. Perry’s back at it Monday when they take on Madison, looking to keep the bats hot.
