PIRATES HAVE PLENTY TO SMILE ABOUT
RAVENNA OH- The bats were hot and the wheels were turning for Southeast on Wednesday as the Pirates rolled past Newton Falls 12-2. Morgan Muncy was a tough out all night, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and a shot that turned into an inside-the-park homer in the first.
The Pirates wasted no time jumping on the board. Lylia Lavigna knocked in the first run with a single, then Muncy laced one that got by the outfield and cleared the bases. A defensive miscue added another, and Bailey Morris capped the rally with an RBI single to make it 5-0 before the Tigers could blink.
Muncy stayed hot in the second, ripping a double to right that pushed another run across. In the third, Aubrey Petrilla added to the damage with a run-scoring single, stretching the lead to 7-0.
On the hill, Liv Bragg took care of business early, fanning four in two hitless innings. Petrilla handled the rest, giving up just two unearned runs over three frames while striking out three.
Southeast racked up 11 hits as Morris and Lilly Hayes joined Muncy with multi-hit nights. The Pirates made life miserable for the Tigers on the bases too, swiping nine bags—Muncy, Lavigna, Hayes, and Neena Truex each took multiple. They also drew six walks, showing patience and aggression in equal measure.
Newton Falls managed just two hits, one each from Addison Garro and Hanna Wright. They did turn a slick double play, but it wasn’t nearly enough to slow down the Pirates’ attack. Southeast is clicking in all phases right now—if they keep this pace, they’ll be a problem for anyone they face.
