PIRATES KEEP ALLIANCE OUT OF THE SKY
RAVENNA OH- It was all about the arms Wednesday as Southeast leaned on tough pitching and just enough offense to take down Alliance, 3-1.
The Pirates got rolling early, putting up all three of their runs in the top of the first. Morgan Muncy ripped a triple down the line, a dropped third strike brought in another, and a productive groundout made it 3-0 before Alliance had a chance to settle in.
From there, it was the pitchers’ show.
Liv Bragg got the start for Southeast and delivered four scoreless innings, working around a few hits while keeping Alliance off the board. Savannah Powell came in to help close the door and protect the lead.
Alliance kept it close thanks to strong work from the circle as well, holding Southeast scoreless over the final six frames, but the early damage was too much to overcome.
Muncy, Lilly Hayes, and Ava Stephens each tallied two hits, with Lavigna, Stephens, and Muncy driving in a run apiece. Stephens also swiped two bags, and the Pirates turned two big double plays to back up their pitchers.
Alliance made a late push, getting hits from multiple spots in the order and scratching across a run, but couldn’t find the clutch hit to pull even.
