PITCHING OWNS THE DAY, HUBBARD OWNS THE WIN
HUBBARD OH- Pitching ruled the day on Tuesday, but it was Hubbard who came out on top, blanking Lakeview 3-0 behind a gem from Gabe Rusnak.
Rusnak was locked in from the first pitch. He went the distance, spinning a two-hit shutout with eight punchouts and just one walk. The dude recorded all 21 outs and never let Lakeview get comfortable.
Hubbard got on the board early in the first. It wasn’t flashy—Johnny Reyes grounded into a double play—but it brought in a run, and that’s all Rusnak needed to settle in.
The Eagles added two more later on to stretch the lead, and their defense stayed sharp the entire way. No errors. Clean baseball. Reyes had a solid day defensively, handling nine chances.
Offensively, it was spread out. Braydon Songer, Jonny Adamson, and Reyes each notched a hit, with Reyes knocking in the only RBI of the game.
Lakeview’s Jacob Shaker pitched well in the loss, going five-plus innings and giving up just three runs—only two earned—while striking out five. Nathan Paolucci and Carter Doran each picked up a hit for the Bulldogs, and they turned a clean double play in the field, but couldn’t get anything going against Rusnak’s heater. These two squads are right back at it Wednesday in Lakeview to wrap up the conference set.
