POLAND DOES ENOUGH TO GET BIG ROAD VICTORY

CANFIELD, Ohio- Poland and South Range met on Thursday night in a pivotal early-season conference matchup for both teams. For Poland, the Bulldogs (2-1-1) were looking to keep their hot start to the season going and continue to stay atop the conference, For South Range, the Raiders (0-3-1) were looking for their first conference win of the season and a chance to gain some ground on the rest of the pack.

It was a quick start for Poland, as Senior Noah Huda got the Bulldogs on the board just 10 minutes into the match with a goal to give the Bulldogs the early advantage. Andreas Tsikouris then added on to the Poland lead with just under 17 minutes remaining in the first half to give the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage. South Range got on the board shortly after with a goal from Logan Butcher that brought the Raiders back within one goal. The teams went into the locker room at halftime with Poland holding that same one goal advantage.

The second half was a defensive battle, and Poland was really able to whether the South Range storm with the plethora of experience that they have. The Bulldogs boast 10 seniors on this year’s roster, and it showed tonight. Poland was able to hold the anchor down defensively and get out of Raider Stadium with a 2-1 victory.

The Bulldogs are now 3-1-1 on the season and 2-0 in Northeast 8 play, which puts them solely atop the conference standings. South Range drops to 0-4-1, and 0-2 in conference play.
