POLAND GETS TWO FROM THE INDIANS

Poland 6 – Girard 5
(GIRARD) – Northeast 8 rivals Poland Seminary and Girard squared off in conference play starting their series in Girard yesterday. After a rain delay in the bottom of the third inning, and the game scoreless, umpires suspended the game because the field became unplayable.
The game resumed in Poland today with Girard plating 3 runs in the bottom of the third inning after a leadoff walk by Lady Indians catcher Riley Collins. Two singles by Ava Serrano and Quin Wilster led the offense in the inning for Girard. The Lady Indians plated another run in the bottom of fifth and seventh innings, but it was Poland’s offense that grabbed a run in the sixth and 5 runs in the top of the seventh for the win.
The Lady Bulldogs blasted 10 hits with Kylie Hudran, Destane Warren and Maddison Medvec each collecting two apiece. Sydney Bullick drove in 3 runs and Warren had 2 RBIs on the day. Lilly McDonald went the distance scattering 5 hits and 5 strikeouts.
Chloe Plant took the loss for Girard going the distance allowing 10 hits and 2 strikeouts. Ava Serrano paced the Lady Indians with 2 hits including a double, and Gia Saxon blasting a triple.

Girard 9 – Poland 19
(POLAND) – The Lady Bulldogs continued their consistent hitting in the second game blasting 17 hits and plating 19 runs outpacing Girard after a 10 run fifth.
Juniors Elliana Thompson and Leanna Boccieri each pounded 3 hits with each collecting 3 RBIs and Thompson doubling twice. Cassie Blanch and Lily McDonald each had 2 hits with McDonald launching a homerun and earning 4 RBIs, while Blanch had 3 RBIs.
Addison Draa earned the win for Poland hurling 3 innings, scattering 5 hits and 3 strikeouts.
Girard’s offense also caught fire with every starter earning a hit. Gabby Doran belted 3 hits while Ava Serrano, Chloe Plant and Gia Saxon each had 2 hits and Serrano drove in 2 runs. Caylee Wilkes and Brooklyn Broll each doubled.
Broll took the loss in the circle going 4 innings scattering 12 hits and 3 strikeouts.
