POLAND HAS THE FIRE IN THE DRAGON’S DEN
NILES OH – Poland wasted no time setting the tone on Wednesday, exploding for eight runs in the first inning on their way to a 17-1 win over Niles in five innings. The win moves the Bulldogs to 5-3 in NE8 play and 10-7 overall.
The bats were hot from the jump. Poland racked up 12 hits, with Kylie Hudran, Destanne Warren, Sydney Bulick, and Leanna Boccieri all picking up a pair. Bulick made the biggest splash, ripping an inside-the-park homer that brought in three. Boccieri added a double to the hit parade.
Lilly McDonald did a little bit of everything—knocked in two at the plate and took care of business in the circle. She threw two no-hit innings and punched out five to earn the win.
Airiana Jones took the loss for Niles, lasting just over two innings and giving up 15 runs on 9 hits and 10 walks. The Red Dragons managed just two hits—Lydiah Taylor had a single and Abby Noland added a triple. Poland is back in NE8 action Thursday as they host Lakeview.
