POLAND POWERS PAST INDIAN CREEK

SALEM, OH – Poland Bulldogs came into tonight’s game facing an Indian Creek team who has never been to week 12 in the Ohio High School Playoffs. The Bulldogs would prove too much for Indian Creek with a balanced attack on offense and a strong defensive line giving Indian Creek headaches all night. Poland Running Back Josh Alessi scored 3 rushing touchdowns while Quarterback Jack Fulton would contribute 2 passing touchdowns. The stubborn Bulldog defense held Indian Creek scoreless all night long and would increase their scoreless quarter streak in the playoffs to 8 quarters. Poland beats Indian Creek 35-0.

Alessi got the Bulldogs the lead early in the first quarter with a 1-yard touchdown run to make the score 7-0. Alessi would add another touchdown towards the end of the first quarter with a 16-yard touchdown to add to the Bulldog lead. In the second quarter, the passing game would come alive for the Bulldogs when Fulton passed to Wide Receiver Andrew Centofanti from 37 yards away to increase Poland’s lead to 21. Towards the end of the quarter, Alessi would add a 3rd rushing touchdown with a 5-yard touchdown run gave the Bulldogs the commanding 28-0 lead against Indian Creek.

The third-quarter highlight was all Poland defense who were able to hold Indian Creek offense from scoring all game and have not allowed a point to be scored in both playoff games this season. The Bulldogs would seal their victory with a play-action touchdown pass from Fulton to Tight End Michael Voitus from 22 yards away to make the final score 35-0 in favor of the Poland Bulldogs. Poland will face the number 1 seed Perry Pirates next week in the Regional Finals of Division 4 at a location to be named. The Bulldogs have not been to the Regional Finals since 2009.
