POLAND TAKES FLIGHT, ELIMINATE STRUTHERS

POLAND, OH- Poland Senior, Ashley Wire had all the right stuff on Wednesday for Poland, allowing zero runs and besting Struthers by a score of 17-0.

Poland fired up the offense in the first inning. Lauren Sienkiewicz drove in one when she singled.  The Lady Bulldogs added six runs in the third inning. The offensive firepower by Poland was led by WireAlly Nittoli, and Justine Carney, all knocking in runs in the inning.

A single by Mary Bayus in the first inning was a positive for Struthers.

Wire led the Poland to victory in the pitcher’s circle. She went five innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out five and walking zero.

Nicolina Pezzone took the loss for Struthers. She surrendered 17 runs on 17 hits over four innings, striking out two.

The Lady Dogs socked one home run on the day. Nittoli went for the long ball in the third.

Poland  racked up 17 hits on the day. WireCarneySienkiewiczCami LattanzioBrooke BobbeyJackie Grisdale, and Nittoli each collected multiple hits for the BulldogsWire went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead Poland in hits.  Poland was also clean in the field with no errors.
