POTTERS PACE THE WAY IN OPENER

EAST LIVERPOOL, OH- The East Liverpool Potters snatched the lead late in the game in a 9-3 victory over Edison on Wednesday. The game was tied at two with East Liverpool Varsity Potters batting in the bottom of the fifth when Anderson Fitch doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring two runs to clinch the first win of the season for the Potters.

East Liverpool got on the board in the second inning. Arron Direonger grounded out but drove in a run.

In the bottom of the fourth inning, the Potters tied things up at two. Fitch hit into a fielder’s choice, scoring one run.

Malachi Reed was on the mound for East Liverpool. Reed surrendered three runs on five hits over seven innings, striking out three.

Bryce Rodger led things off on the pitcher’s mound for Edison. The hurler went five innings, allowing six runs on six hits, striking out three, and walking one.

East Liverpool racked up eight hits in the game. Fitch, Evan Tice, Reed, and Mason Ludwig each managed multiple hits for the Potters. Ludwig, Reed, Tice, and Fitch each managed two hits to lead East Liverpool.

Bryce Rodgers went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Edison in hits.
