PUT UP YOUR DUKES, MARLINGTON MARKS UP SALEM’S PERFECT RECORD

ALLIANCE, OH-  The 2019 Salem Quakers suffered their first setback of the season on Friday at the hands of Marlington 24-16. A game that was dominated by the Dukes for the first 3 1/2 quarters as they jumped out to a 24-0 lead, saw things get a little more interesting late in the 4th.

Salem was finally able to muster some offensive firepower midway through the 4th when Niko Walter connected with Sophomore Brock Young who immediately pitched to Anthony DiMuzio on a hook-and-ladder play for a touchdown. Salem was able to add another score and 2 point conversion on a fumble by Marlington to cut the lead to 24-16. After Salem was unable to recover the onside kick, giving Marlington possession with a little over a minute and the ability to run out the clock and secure the victory.

Salem returns to action next week, looking to get back on track as they travel to Alliance to take on the Aviators. Kick-off will be 7:00 so listen live at www.ysnlive.com/Salem or on the YSNlive app.
