QUAKERS BATTLE THROUGH MOONEY

YOUNGSTOWN OH- Salem came in to Monday nights matchup with Mooney really wanting to wash away a tough game on Saturday against Crestview. They did just that as they swept the Cardinals in three hard fought sets that required a lot of endurance. (25-18 28-26 25-17)

Rylie Troy led the Quakers with 10 kills on the night. Zoie Reid also had a strong performance finishing with 9 kills. 3 of those kills came consecutively after a timeout in the third set. At that point Mooney was on a 7-0 rally and cut a 18-8 lead to 18-15. Reid’s kills turned the tide. Troy played great defense and earned a double double with 21 digs. Jenna McClish also played strong defense with 16 digs. Emma Hochadel set up the offense and collected 10 assists. Elena Colarossi also got 10 assists.

Amarra Anderson led the Mooney offense with a strong 10 kills out of the middle. Angelina Rotunno finished with a double double for the Cardinals with 23 assists, and 17 digs. Alaina Francis put together a big night as well with 9 kills, and 17 digs. Katie Frommelt led the defense with 24 digs. Mooney had 89 digs combined as a team.

Salem will have some time to take a breath as they travel to Carrollton on Thursday. Mooney also returns to action Thursday as they host rival Ursuline.
