QUAKERS CELEBRATE THEIR SENIORS

SALEM OH- The night belonged to seniors Chase Toy, Kaylee Johnson, Kylie Skinner, Mack Zumbar, Sofia Cibien & Izzy Codorniu. Salem honored these ladies before the game with a heartfelt ceremony.

Emilee “Fireball” Lewis pitched a complete game (6 innings) for the victory in the circle. She struck out 14 batters. Just three shy of the school record & in just 6 innings. Em took over portions of the game & battery mate Channing Toy called a great game.

Once again the Lady Quakers played even better the second time seeing an opponent this year. Bella Brant & Emilee Lewis had two hits a piece. Sophie Maniscalco tripled & singled. Lauryn Barton stayed hot as she doubled & laid down another bunt hit. She also stole 2 more bases. Channing Toy singled & scored. Hadley Carlisle drew a walk in her only at bat.

The Quakers stole 7 more bases giving them 72 of 79 attempts. In comparison their opponents have stolen 16 of 24.

Chase Toy went 3-4 with and double 2 runs scored, an rbi & three more stolen bases. Chase is the epitome of a ball player. A captain & leader she truly eats, sleeps & drinks softball. I’ve never coached a player with more heart! The players respect, like & follow her lead. Talking with her is like taking with a veteran coach – she knows the game!

Kylie Skinner hit the game winning rbi single as well as an important sac bunt earlier in the game. It’s been so rewarding to watch her work to become such an awesome softball player. Things that would have been roadblocks for others were just hurdles along the way for her. Going to succeed in what she puts her mind to!

Mack Zumbar singled with an RBI to extend her hitting streak to 11 games. This kid burst on the scene with the big homerun & has taken off ever since. Truly our vocal leader & then again the MVP as our vocal leader! I’m amazed at her athletic ability at 1st base & the softball player she has become! She makes everyone relax with her personality & sometimes look over their shoulder!

Kaylee Johnson singled, scored & laid down a sac bunt. She also made a nice catch in right field. To see her come over last season & have to play a half season was heartbreaking. But when she came over she immediately was part of the family. Kaylee cares about everyone & in return every teammate loves her. She is the ultimate team mate & it’s so rewarding watching her become a good softball player.

Izzy Codorniu scored an important run in the third inning. Always singing & dancing all the while smiling. She makes others around her feel relaxed. Ewe Bella! She continues to get better every week.

Sofia Cibien scored an insurance run on a passed ball in the third inning as a pinch runner. Her energy, positivity & enthusiasm is contagious. Simply loves life & loves softball. If your dugout is quiet – Sofia is not in it because she will lead the cheer no matter the score.

Thanks Seniors, you represent everything it is to be part of the Salem Softball Family. We love you!

Salem hosts Carrollton tomorrow at home 5pm as they look to extend their winning streak to 3 games.
