QUAKERS SET FIRE TO THE RAIN; BLANK GIRARD

SALEM, OH- Salem is on a mission, and not much will stand in the way of accomplishing it.  Especially the rain.

Salem hurler Gavin Wilms didn’t allow a single run against Girard, throwing a complete game shutout and leading Quakers to a 12-0 victory on Wednesday

Jackson Johnson led Salem to victory by driving in four runs. Johnson went 2-for-3 at the plate. Double J drove in runs on a home run in the first, a groundout in the second, and a single in the fourth.

Salem notched six runs in the fourth inning. The Quaker offense in the inning came from singles by Lance BaileyJohnson, and Wilms, a walk by Blaize Exline, and a double by Darius Beck.

One bright spot for Girard was a single by Jake Dohy in the fifth inning.

Wilms led the Quakers to victory on the hill. The righty lasted five innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out nine and walking one.

Nate Freeland took the loss for Girard. The hurler allowed four hits and six runs over two and two-thirds innings, striking out two.

Salem had ten hits in the game. WilmsBrock YoungJohnson, and Beck each managed multiple hits for the QuakersBeckJohnsonYoung, and Wilms each managed two hits to lead the team. Salem tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Exline led the way with two.

Dohy led Girard with one hit in three at-bats.
