QUAKERS STACK THIRD STRAIGHT WIN

CARROLLTON, OH- The Quakers ended their conference schedule tonight by getting the sweep over Carrollton to finish with a winning record in the EBC at 7-5.

Senior starting pitcher Adam Wilson went the distance for the Quakers earning his 4th EBC win as he went 7 innings and gave up 1 earned run while racking up 11 strikeouts. Wilson was only half of the story for the victorious Quakers however as Salem went into their last at-bat trailing by 1 run only to grind out 2 runs to get the victory.

Salem started the scoring back in the first inning when senior Turner Johnson scores on a base hit by sophomore Lane Rhodes to give the Quakes a 1 run lead.

Salem would strike for 2 more in the 4th inning on the strength of 3 doubles by Rhodes, Wilson, and freshman Blaize Exline.

Salem would give up their comfy 3 run lead in the 4th when Carrollton struck for 4 runs to take the lead on the strength of a bunt base hit, a throwing error, a triple, and a fielders choice.

After stranding a runner on 1st and 3rd in the 6th, the Quakers fight back in the 7th. After Johnson grounded out to first to start the inning, senior Bryce Owen reaches on a swinging bunt to third that he legged out. Junior Ricky Enlow then doubled into the right centerfield gap to give Salem runners at 2nd and 3rd with 1 out. After Wilson struck out looking the Quakers were down to their last out trailing by a run. That would quickly change as junior Joey Watson jumped on the first pitch he saw and ripped a base hit to right field passed the second basemen scoring the tying and go-ahead runs. Wilson did the rest in the mound in the bottom of the 7th setting down the Warriors 1,2,3.

The Quakers improve to 12-11 on the year and 7-5 on the season. Salem will play their 4th game in as many days tomorrow when they travel to Eastwood Field in Niles to take on Western Reserve.
