QUAKERS STAY PERFECT, CORRAL CANTON SOUTH

SALEM, OH- The 4-0 Salem Quakers were able to push their record to 5-0 (2-0) with a 46-30 victory Friday night at Sebo Stadium.

After a quick 1st half that saw the Quakers take a 16-6 lead into the locker room, both teams exploded in the 3rd for a combined 41 points, turning what started out a football game into a track meet. Quaker senior running back Cade Campolito and Canton South quarterback Tyler Karovic traded shots in the quarter with 3 touchdowns apiece. When the dust finally settled the Quakers held a 36-27 lead heading into the 4th.

The Wildcats would open the scoring in the 4th on a 31-yard field goal to cut the lead to six at 36-30, but just as they have all season, a Quaker stepped up and made a play to bring all the momentum back. That Quaker was senior Niko Walter, who would slam the door on any hopes of a Wildcat comeback. Walter would take the ensuing kick-off 75 yards to the house, electrifying the Salem sideline and deflating the South sideline. Salem would tack on a safety to finish the scoring and make it 46-30 at the final whistle.

The two-headed backfield monster of Walter and Campolito were dominant all night as they would combine for 33 carries for 335 yards and five touchdowns between them (Niko, 14-290-2 and Cade, 19-145-3).

Salem heads back out on the road for a big EBC matchup next week at Marlington. Kick-off is set for 7 pm.
