QUAKERS WEATHER THE STORM

SALEM OH-  Salem managed through a push by United in the third inning where the Quakers coughed up four runs, but Salem still won 8-4 on Friday. Nevin Hahlen, Grant Knight, Trent Newburn, and Tyler Dickens all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning for the Eagles.

Salem opened up scoring in the first inning. They scored two runs on a stolen base.

The Quakers pulled away for good with four runs in the third inning. In the third Jackson Johnson homered on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs and Carson Rhodes singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

Lance Bailey was credited with the victory for Salem. Bailey allowed one hit and zero runs over five innings, striking out six.

Newburn took the loss for United. He allowed five hits and six runs over two innings, striking out three.

Darius Beck started the game for Salem. The righthander went two innings, allowing four runs on two hits and striking out two

Salem launched one home run on the day. Johnson had a long ball in the third inning.

The Quakers collected seven hits on the day. Blaize Exline and Rhodes each collected multiple. Rhodes and Exline each collected two hits to lead. Salem tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Rhodes led the way with three.

Newburn went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead United in hits.
