RAIDERS BATS ARE HOT, COME UP SHORT AGAINST SPARTANS

BOARDMAN, OH-  The South Range Raiders lost the lead late in a 10-8 defeat to Boardman on Wednesday. The game was tied at eight with Boardman batting in the bottom of the sixth when Dylan Gurski‘s sac fly scored one run for Boardman.  South Range collected 12 hits and Boardman had nine in the high-scoring affair.

After South Range scored seven runs in the top of the third, Boardman answered with seven of their own.

The Raiders scored when Jaxon Anderson doubled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, Brycen James singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run, Jake Gehring singled on a 1-1 count, scoring two runs, and Michael Cunningham doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs. Boardman then answered when an error scored one run for Boardman, Conner Miller singled on a 0-2 count, scoring one run, an error scored one run for Boardman, and Kris Scandy induced Mike Fetsko to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored.

Wilson got the win for Boardman. He lasted four and two-thirds innings, allowing six hits and three runs while striking out two and walking one.  Anderson took the loss for the Raiders. He lasted one inning, allowing four hits and three runs while walking zero.  Shay Eicher started the game for Boardman. He went two and a third innings, allowing five runs on six hits, striking out one and walking zero. Nick Habeth started the game for South Range. He lasted two and a third innings, allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out one.

The Raiders saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game. Josh StearCunninghamGehring, and Anderson all had multiple hits for RaidersStear led the Raiders with three hits in three at-bats.

Luke Cardillo went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Boardman in hits.
