RAIDERS DROP FIRST GAME OF SPLIT DOUBLER TO TALLMADGE

STOW, OH- South Range lost the lead late in an 8-7 defeat to Tallmadge (OH) on Saturday. The game was tied at seven with Tallmadge batting in the top of the sixth when Emma Garbinsky singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run.

The Lady Raiders collected nine hits and Tallmadge had 12 in the high-scoring affair.

In the first inning, South Range got their offense started. Juli Stachowicz was hit by a pitch, driving in a run.

Tallmadge evened things up at seven in the top of the fifth inning. Leila Stazsak doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.  Tallmadge then scored four runs in the second inning and was driven by a single by Stazsak, by Zoe Rensel, and an error on a ball put in play by Marley Queen.

Riley Jackson was credited with the victory for Tallmadge. The bulldog allowed one hit and four runs over one inning, striking out one and walking one. Ella Bee and Mia Zappola entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Sam Susany took the loss for South Range Raiders Varsity. The right-hander went five and two-thirds innings, allowing eight runs on 12 hits and striking out nine.

South Range totaled nine hits. Kelly Szolek, Gretchen Bartels, and Reagan Irons each collected multiple hits for the burgundy and gold. Irons, Bartels, and Szolek each collected two hits to lead the team.

Tallmadge had 12 hits in the game. Stazsak, Catherine Hedrick, and Garbinsky each had multiple hits.
