RAIDERS KEEP THE BULLDOGS OUT OF THE HOUSE
CANFIELD OH — South Range took control early and never let go Monday night, knocking off Poland 11-2 in a Northeast 8 battle.
The Raiders struck first in the second inning with a RBI single from Heidi Bartels. Poland answered back in the third, grabbing a brief lead off a defensive miscue. But that was the last time the Bulldogs were out front.
South Range came right back with a three-run bottom half, fueled by back-to-back doubles from Jayli Wilt and Giada Pauline, to jump ahead 4-2. After shutting down Poland in the fourth, the Raiders broke it wide open — putting up five more runs on four hits, with Wilt doubling again and Sophia Brogan adding a big RBI single.
Solena DeJesus led the Raiders’ attack, collecting three hits, including a double. Bartels and Ashley Rupert each added two knocks to keep the lineup rolling. Rupert did it all, tossing a complete game, giving up just four singles while punching out six.
Poland couldn’t get much going offensively, scattering four singles across seven innings. Addison Draa took the loss in the circle, going 3.1 innings and giving up nine hits. The two teams will get after it again Tuesday, this time in Poland.
