RAIDERS PUT AN END TO SPRINGFIELD’S STREAK

NEW MIDDLETOWN OH- Friday night had so much excitement brewing. It was week 1 of high school in Ohio, fans could be in full attendance, and in New Middletown the Raiders and Tigers were ready to due battle!

This week one matchup had been in the making for two years. Last year both teams played an abbreviated schedule and had to nix their matchup. And both teams went on to have great seasons. But now fans got to see the battle between these two backyard rivals. The Raiders got to start the night with the ball. They had a long drive all the way inside the 10 yard line but a fumble ended the scoring opportunity. The Tigers took over but we’re unable to turn in into points. The next Raider drive was again another long drive with runs and some passes mixed in. It was capped off by a Billy Skripac run. The Raiders would add to their lead when Dylan Dominguez marched in for another touchdown.

Springfield would answer when Bo Brungard connected to Seandelle Gardner for a 72 yard touchdown pass. But the Tigers were never able to catchup to the Raiders. South Range was able to extend their lead through out the evening. For the Tigers Bo lead the way passing 9-13 with 177 yards and rushing 11 times for 64 yards. Gardner was the leading receiver with 95 yards and the 1 touchdown.

For South Range it was a balanced attack. Skripac had 301 yards of total offense. He threw for 209 yards with 2 tds and ran for 92 with a td. Dominguez had 199 yards rushing with 3 tds. Leading receiver was Ayden Leon with 104 yards and a td. The loss ended a 20 plus regular season game winning streak for Springfield.

The Tigers look to start another streak next week when the my travel to Brookfield. The Raiders have their home opener next week for Hall of Fame week vs University.
