RAIDERS RESPOND, SILENCE SALEM

Salem and South Range has to wait a while on Saturday to try to bounce back from losses on Friday night. The game before theirs between Hoban and West Branch went in to overtime. For South Range it was well worth the wait as they responded to their loss with a dominant 51-38 win over Salem.

It was a fast start for the Raiders on offense, as Lexi Giles has a strong eight point first quarter to shoot her team out of a cannon. The Raider defense was also causing serious problems for the Quaker ball handlers as they forced a lot of live ball turnovers. In the first half even though the flow of the game suggested that the Raiders were dominating, the Quakers did a good job in staying within striking distance. They found a way to go into the locker room down 26-20.

Even in the third frame the Quakers stuck around. They seemed to have an answer for every little run the Raiders put together. Little jabs that would keep Salem in range of a comeback. That all changed in the fourth quarter as the Raider defense completely locked down. Salem went six minutes without a point as they saw the Raiders fly ahead of them. By the time the Quakers got their first points of the quarter the Raiders were too far away to catch.

Izzy Lamparty had another double double to lead the Raiders with 18 points 15 rebounds. Lexi Giles also had a strong night with 16. Mallory Vidman had a strong night on the boards with 8 rebounds.

Casey Johnson led the Quakers with 13 points.

The Raiders return to action January 6th as they travel to Girard.
